Introduction
Let me start by saying that one of my top lessons on money is the importance of having your own money!!! – especially for women.
A few months ago, there was this story that went viral of a billionaire who sent his wife of 39 years out of their home in Banana Island. Queenssss, 39 years?…From the pictures and storyline, the way her stuff was put out, I’m sure that the man did that because he knew she wasn’t financially capable…I believe if she was financially stable, the “sending out” would have been different from what I saw.
Anyways, this session is not to fuel fear, because our marriages will be sweet in Jesus name, (and the church says AMEN!!). Instead I want us to see this as a call, or challenge if you will. First to see the importance of being financially independent and second to spur us to actively work towards financial independence even from where we are, be it as students, working class single ladies, career women, entrepreneurs or full time house wives, we all have the capacity to create wealth and must maximize this capacity .
Someone is probably wondering “which capacity?” …..keep reading chica…
Now, since money doesn’t fall like manna (sadly🤣), we need to learn how to make, manage and multiply it.
As a lady, there is nothing stopping you from knowing and doing more with money; from savings, to investments. Yet, women somehow seem to shy away from money matters and I hope that the light of our discussion will put an end to this. today.
Last week, while strolling through the corridors of memory lane, I happened to remember how great things were in my 100 level, that I even occasionally got 50k as pocket money (somebody say Awoof!!! 50k? as chop money? as a student? Heiiii!! 😩).
Anyways, since I didn’t know jack about money management then, you wouldn’t need a fortune teller to tell you that I used all that money to do ‘big girl’ (oh the locust years that were stolen shaa). If I knew that things will be tighter in 400 level, I would have been more deliberate about how I managed the months of plenty (Bro. Joseph where were thou?). In 400 level, my eyes opened, as that 50k began to dwindle and I eventually had to apply for an internship to make up my monthly subsistence. So Queens, if you’re still getting something – no matter how little, from your parents – you don’t know what God has done for you oooo!!😊
Well, this is life’s reality; IT IS MOST UNPREDICATABLE. We think things will get easier, and for us they will by God’s grace, but there will be seasons and moments when 50k becomes 20k, and 20k can become 50k again… You get? So how do we manage that?
Paul said he has learnt to be content in ‘everything.’

In 2021, with the rise in technology, I can honestly say that there are so many opportunities and apps that make financial independence and stability a very achievable dream/ goal, such that even if money is never an issue in the future, we as humans stay productive and fruitful. The truth is we will always have need for money to meet basic needs (and then some😉) and certainly to fulfil the great commission, OR is there anyone that doesn’t need or want more money? Let’s lay hands on you now ma. Lol
You know what, let’s try something, take a moment and think of a decision you have to make right now that doesn’t involve money at all.
Did you come up with any? Were they up to 3? Its quite hard to think of one right?
Literally every decision has something to do with money; from transportation, to feeding, clothing, rent, even relationshippp sef is expensive😩 (ordinary airtime to call, not to mention gifts, even if its just for birthdays abi?)
So I wonder why believers don’t take money management more seriously? Many of us are just winging it. Using vibes on a daily basis, but is that really sustainable? Anyway, let’s not focus too much on the future. Instead lets talk about what you can do right now.
Why?
Because, how you spend 10k now is how you’ll spend that 10 Million (preferably pounds) later. So we need to start imbibing the money culture that allows wealth become generational. I know a lady that said her dad taught her about money and how to account for it as a child and that has helped her till today. But many of us didn’t have that opportunity, not to worry we can start learning now, so we have something to impact the next generation with.
Stay tuned Queen, I assure you this thing we’re cooking hasn’t even “blown” yet.
Love YSB❤👑
This is such a beautiful post! All ladies (Queens) need to learn how to manage their money efficiently and effectively so they don’t suffer in the future. Can’t wait for Part 2🌟🤩
